Ohio Foreclosed Homes

Question: How do you get power of attorney over a person who needs mental help? Person will not leave foreclosed?
home, has no water, but getting by with jugs of it. Person has extreme paranoia and mood swings. Disruptive to neighborhood. Police have been out many times. Parent wants to get adult child help, however, everyone is out to get this person, so she thinks she doesn't need help. (in her mind) Any assistance is appreciated. No job no insurance for them either. Person lives in Ohio, we're 4 1/2 hours away.

Answer: You would have to get this get the local city or county government that handle mental incompetent individuals. You need to make contact with the mental health clinics in your county so they may go with you to this property and make a judgment for themselves.
Once this has been done, they will make a determination if the person is mentally capable of caring for themselves.
If the determination is made that this person is mentally incapable of caring for themselves there is a legal system that is in place to get a family member or a member of the court to take care of this persons business and handle them for their benefit.
I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.
