Question: Is my mother immature?
I am 18 years old and have a younger sister who is 16. I am home from college for spring break this week and have noticed some problems with my mother, 45. My mom and stepdad just separated 4 months ago. My mother was cheating on him with several different men. She is now going out after work several nights a week and won't come home. She won't pick up any of my phone calls when she is out. She has no control of her life or finances. She makes plenty of money, but our house is going to be foreclosed. She begs me to borrow her money at the end of every week. She could care less to save money. My sister is going wild and the house is always trashed when I come home. I try to talk to her about it, and she just tells me I am nagging her and that everything is fine. I don't know what to do. I can't really tell my own mother what to do. Helpp

Answer: Well, you can't really tell her what to do, true. Is there other family members you can get some support from in confronting her? Is your step-dad your sisters father? At least in all of this, your sister needs taken care of. 16 is still very much in need of guidance. If you can't do it alone, find some support somewhere else. Your mother seems like maybe she is depressed? She didn't sound like she was all that together before this situation.
