Question: whats the best way to get foreclosed house listings?

im looking at foreclosed houses but i feel like by the time i see them on mlsonline.com its too late because the good ones are picked over by the time they get listed is this true? whats the best way to locate local listings? is it worth it to pay for a sit and which one is best? is there a free site that works well?
i live in anoka, mn and am looking in the under 150k range
what ive been looking at are bank owned homes. i want one in structurally sound but rough condition, something to fix up over a few years and sell or rent. lots of work dont scare me. i just want the listings, so i can see them and evaluate.
do Realtors get to pick through everything? if there was a really great potential investments wouldnt they take advantage of it for themselves. so what im saying is would the great buys even get to me?

Answer: Don't listen to these first two, you can find a steal with foreclosed homes. Unless you are in the industry, you won't really have easy access to the information. It's all recorded at the county clerk's office, but you have to go down there to get it. You could also talk to someone at a title company and they can send you a list of foreclosed properties, or you can try foreclosures.com. They'll send you a list of foreclosed properties you can look through. Short sales are the best way to go, but foreclosures are just as good. There are so many properties on the market now that you will find a deal no matter where you look.

I do not want to give my credit card info for the free trials in order to view the listing details.. Are there any government websites or any websites where I can search for this completely free? Your answers are appreciated. Thank you.

Government Foreclosed Houses

Question: Why do politicians never describe the foreclosure "crisis" as a foreclosure opportunity?

If a bunch of foreclosed houses go on the market, and the market finds the market-clearing rate for those houses, the price for those houses will certainly drop. I say this creates opportunity for people who sat out the government-created housing bubble to buy nice, big houses on the cheap. Isn't that a screaming opportunity for responsible people? Do the "victims" of the foreclosure "crisis" deserve to use the money of others to keep enjoying their "right" to live in "their" house?
I think Sterilized Man is in love with me or something... he stalks me like the average unemployed loser who stalks the girl who breaks up with him after he goes 2 years without looking for a job. The sooner that Sterilized Man understands his affection for me will go unrequited, the better his mental state will be.

Answer: That is exactly what my wife and myself have been planning to do. We have been saving up money for years with the intention of walking in with a $100,000 down payment. We figure that we should have that much saved by this summer.

Of course Obama's rewarding of the irresponsible will probably push the price of a decent house out of our reach.
