Question: Buying a house after filling for chapter 7?

At the moment I live in Las Vegas.I just filled chapter 7 about 2 years ago, the lawyer told me that I would have to wait 1 year after I filed before I would be able to buy a new house, since I lost mine due to foreclosure. I called my broker to buy a new house under 40k puting a downpayment of about 5k and was told that I would not be able to buy any house for another 2yrs on my credit. I know that chapter 7 will be on my record for another 7 yrs after has been filed, but how can I get another house on my own? Any help will be great......thanks

Answer: Your lawyer might have been right two years ago. I don't know if you ever watch TV or read a newspaper, but the predominant story over the past year anyway has been the bursting of the housing bubble.

Then came the financial meltdown (you know the one, where the banks and financial institutions had to borrow billions from the government or go bankrupt!)

Now lenders make decisions very, very differently than they did 2 years ago. Now waiting only a year after a bankruptcy will not be enough. You will be lucky to get any mortgage loan in the next 3 years.

good luck!

PS - you will need a credit score of ~700 to get a mortgage these days.

Question: What happens towards the end of a foreclosure?

I've had a condo for about 3 years, 2 of which I haven't paid for, after 2 years they finally found the original note and sent a letter saying they were going to show it to a judge some time in mid Nov. One month later and I haven't received any letters stating the outcome of that matter. I'm pretty sure they didn't lie to me about having the original...I just thought by now I would of heard something...I have received more calls than usual from the lender ( 2 more calls), but my lawyer always told me to ignore them and now he's no where to be found!!!
How's the last days of a foreclosre? Do they mail you a letter stating an eviction? Is there alot of paperwork to sign off on? How long do they give you to move out? BTW, its in Florida.

Thanks in advance!

Answer: When I was foreclosed on, there was just an official letter saying the property was sold, on what date, and that was that. I suggest if you have anything to get out of there, do it sooner than later. I did not sign anything. But because my ex procrastinated, our things were stolen, and we only got some of our things. So while you can, start packing and moving.

Question: Lawyer for Defective Drywall, Foreclosure, and Fraud?

Need a lawyer in Florida to handle fraud, defective drywall, and foreclosure. I have an attorney now that is helping me for free for the foreclosure issue and he is doing a good job. But, he has found fraud on my GFE and Loan Application that were sent not signed by me and overstated, etc. Plus, now my insurance adjuster says I have bad chinese drywall. My attorney wants a lot of money up front now to help me settle this case and I can't afford it. I need an attorney who can help me on a contingency basis.
